Artistic Director - Herci Marsden
Ages: 3 through adult
The Brae Crest School of Classical Ballet was founded in 1958 by Herci and Myles Marsden and is the official school of The State Ballet of Rhode Island. Since its inception the school has established a reputation of the highest standards in ballet education. Excellence in training, artistic integrity, technique, correct physical development and personal discipline are balanced with pure aesthetic vision, emphasizing the joy, beauty and tradition of classical ballet.
FORMER STUDENTS
Rebecca Arnold - went on to Cadence Dance Project and the to Jose Mateo Ballet in
Boston
Richard Marsden - Danced with New York City Ballet for seventeen years. Retired in 1999.
Deb Meunier - Danced with the State Ballet. Co-founded Island Moving Co. and founded Fusionworks where she currently dances, choreographs and directs. Among other things, Deb credits Herci Marsden with teaching her how to successfully put a dance on stage.
Cheryl Mrozowski - Received her early training with the State Ballet. She is now the director of the Wheaton Dance Company and an Assistant Professor of Theatre.
Miki Ohlsen - Co-founded Island Moving Co. in 1982 and has been its director since then.
Arlene Gilbert - Director of the Jasper Ballet.
Kim Greenberg - Dancer, Teacher and Choreographer with Studio 34.
