JUNE 7
DANCE ALL SUMMER LONG!

The biggest problem in Rhode Island during the summer is that there are too many things to do - often resulting in an inability to commit to a once a week dance class. Noted dance teacher, Jeff Allen is offering a walk-in dance salsa dance class on Monday through Thursdays on throughout summer 2010. Beginners are welcome at 7pm to his air conditioned studio and beginner/intermediates at 8pm. You can come as much or as little as you want. You don't need a partner just bring your desire to learn the trendiest, sassiest, and expressive, Latin dance in the world.s [Details]

SUPER MARIO PUTS IN HIS TWO CENTS ON TWO VS ONE

"Everything that is done on1, can be done on2 and vice-versa. These on1-on2 are just beats of the same bar of music, so how can anything change. It shouldn't." [Full Interview from Salsa Vancouver]

Salsa
The fast-paced living breathing dance known as the salsa has become the most popular Latin dance in the United States. New York's Puerto Rican community adapted the mambo to a new style of popped-up Latin music and the salsa was forged from many dancing feet. Because salsa has not been fully codified, people all around the country dance the basic step differently. Salsa, as it is danced today, is a style of mambo often danced on the one beat instead of on the two beat. This permits many more everyday non-latin folk to enjoy the dance. The basic is tremendously versatile allowing for many tempos. Slow salsa down, you can dance it to rumba and cha cha music; dance it close and sexy, you get dirty dancing.

Salsa is taught at most ballroom dance schools (See riDance's Ballroom & Swing page). The schools and teachers on the Salsa dance class listings specialize in salsa.

SALSA GROUP CLASSES & PRIVATE LESSONS

SALSA & MAMBO
You will find salsa and mambo lessons in just about every ballroom and social dance school as well as at community centers and clubs throughout the state. See riDance's Ballroom Dance classes for general social dance class listings. The following schools and teachers specialize in salsa.

SALSA SUMMER WITH JEFF ALLEN
June through August, 2010
Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday

Salsa
Beginner 7:00 – 8:00pm
Beginner Intermediate 8:00 – 9:00pm

Here's your chance to learn Salsa Monday thru Thursday evenings beginning Tuesday June 1st, for the entire 2010 summer.

Imagine being able to come in to my studio and learn Salsa in a day, a week, a month, just as often as you wish only when you want! You DON"T need a partner (but of course it would help) just bring your desire to learn the trendiest, sassiest, and expressive, Latin dance in the world.

Here's how it works: Each class is one hour;
Beginner 7-8 PM Intermediate 8-9 PM

Your 1st one hour class is $20.00 just to see if you like it or pay $60.00 and get 4 classes immediately. Then you can then buy as many classes as you like for only $15.00 each.

You can take one or two classes per evening once you get the hang of the beginner level. You can come in and learn Salsa whenever you like, as often as you like, and enjoy the fun, and fitness that this great dance offers. I recommend that you come 5 -10 minutes early to sign up. That's it as easy as I can make it.

I promise you'll love my classes and you'll learn Salsa at your pace.

The Classes will take place at Jeff Allen's private air conditioned studio located at: 831 Charles Street, Providence, 02904, centrally located and very easily accessed from any where in RI. Plenty of free on street parking is available. Jeff Allen has been teaching dance for over twenty five years (1984), and enjoyed a very successful career as both an Amateur and Professional competitor. He's won numerous Championships, has earned over 30 NDCA Top Teacher Awards, has attained the prestigious Membership Degree in the North American Dance Sport Teachers Association and is an examiner (trains dance teachers and administers examinations for the professional credential examination).

Jeff is also the author of the very popular dance books, Quickstart to Swing and Quickstart to Tango, as well as The Complete Guide to Slow Dancing, video & booklet, and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Ballroom Dancing with DVD (currently the number 1 selling dance book on Amazon.com). All make excellent engagement and shower gifts.

Jeff Allen has served as a resident ballroom dance expert for USA Today Newspapers for Dancing With The Stars.
