Marcia Newbert, Bristol, RI Marcia is a charter member of Rhode Island's Ballet Theatre and has been featured in Dream Catcher, Harp Dances, Celtic Reflections, The Debut, Hansel & Gretel, 123 Etc., and Festival in Venice among others. She has been dancing for 11 years and studies at the Rhode Island Ballet Arts Academy where she is a Teaching Assistant. She has also danced with the Moscow State Ballet and Dance Prism. Marcia is a High Honors student at St. Mary Academy-Bay View where she is the youngest dancer in their well-known cabaret, Manhattan By The Bay. In 2001, she won competitive auditions for the summer intensive programs of the Kirov Academy, Washington, D.C. (affiliated with the Kirov Ballet), The Briansky Ballet, Saratoga Springs, NY and The Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, Torrington, CT. Each of these ballet companies auditioned dancers across the country to select only 30 to 50 advanced students.
Laura Newell dances for Fusionworks. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in communications. While at RIC she was a member of the RIC Modern Dance Company and had the opportunity to work with such renowned choreographers as Mark Taylor and Company, ZeEva Cohen, and Freedman/Coleman.

Dancer, choreographer, teacher
Cathy Nicoli completed her MFA in Dance at Smith College on a teaching fellowship and is currently teaching at Roger Williams University where she completed her BA Cum Laude in Dance/Performance in 1994. She is a two time recipient of both the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts Choreography Fellowship Award and the Rhode Island Foundation's Joseph Cirino Scholarship for Arts Education. Cathy has also been honored by the Alpha Chi Honor Society and the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. She has been chosen by the American College Dance Festival to perform her solo work at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as in the festival's New England Regional performances.
Co-Artistic Director of Groundwerx Dance Theatre, Cathy taught, danced and choreographed for the Providence based company for six years. In addition to Groundwerx, Cathy has worked with Michigan's Dance Traverse, performance artists Gary Shore and Richard Goulis, Big Nazo Puppets, Richard Seigal (Frankfurt Ballet), and Liz Lerman Dance Exchange. She can also be seen dancing in the Ben Folds Five MTV video, Underground, of which she was Assistant Choreographer.
Cathy has taught and choreographed for Smith College, Hampshire College, Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence College, St. George's School, Moses Brown School, AS220 Youth Arts Conferences, Very Special Arts Rhode Island and the Rhode Island State Services for the Blind. Cathy is currently a dancer of Heidi Henderson's elephant Jane Dance and an intern at Camp Bearnstow under the direction of Bebe Miller and Ruth Grauert. She currently lives in Northampton, MA and is looking for a cheap but wonderful used car, if you know of one...

Mia Nocera joined State Ballet of Rhode Island in 1990, and became a principal with them in 1999. She is a strong feminine dancer known especially for her exceptional balancing skills.

Theatrical dancer, actor & singer, Jamie Norcini started out with Elaine Colaneri at The Modern Jazz Dance Company-Center of The Arts in Providence. Now residing in New York City, he has performed in the Orient and throughout the United States. He has a BFA in dance from The Juilliard School and studied acting with Warren Kelly, Kimball Studios in New York, and Community College of Rhode Island; voice with Steven Katz and Monica Robinson. Some of his theatrical roles include Al in Chorus Line, Pheadra in La Cage Aux Folles and Shark in West Side Story. Other productions have included The Music Man, Guy and Dolls, Kiss of the Spider Woman and 42nd Street. He has just recently finished a stint at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City (2002). In addition to the theatre, Jamie has worked in film and television and is a certified fitness instructor in many New York gyms including Equinox, CRUNCH, and Reebok to name a few.

Marvin Novogrodski has been entertaining thousands of Rhode Islanders for years in his alter ego Marvelous Marvin. His acrobatics, juggling, and stilt-walking abilities warm hearts wherever he travels. A devoted humanitarian, he has appeared at numerous charity benefits including the Rhode Island Children's Crusade for Higher Education and the South Attleboro Lion's Club's annual Lees Pond Festival. As a member of the Everett Dance Theatre, he has brought the beauty and creativity of dance to school children and adults alike. When he is not performing, he can often be found among dance and theatre audiences soaking up whatever Rhode Island has to offer.

Ann-Marie Normandin was appointed Assistant Director at The Jasper School in 1992, then known as The Dance Center, where throughout her years growing up, she received her training from Arlene Gilbert. She earned her role as soloist in 1986 with the school's senior resident dance troupe, The Classical Ensemble. During her high school years, she received high accolades in the dance world with first place honors in both regional and national competition. Upon her graduation from Cumberland High School, Ann-Marie studied at The Boston Conservatory, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance in 1992. Throughout her college years, she continued her membership with The Classical Ensemble and she instructed classes at The Dance Center. She has performed with The Boston Conservatory, the State Ballet of Rhode Island, and The Jasper Ballet, where she has also volunteered time serving as Artistic Director. Debbie Nunes studied dance for 10 years at Jo-Ann's Dance Studio In Riverside, RI. She has been teaching dance since 1994 when she became certified to teach dance through the Dance Teachers Club of Boston. She has her Associates of Arts degree from Dean College in Franklin, MA. She was honored with the Carrie Grant Chilson Music Dance award while at Dean, received the Alice Mackenzie Codding Memorial Scholarship, and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She went on to study Ballet and Modern dance, primarily the techniques of Martha Graham and Lester Horton at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York City. She studied under choreographers such as Jill Silverman, Jean Wenzel, Dudley Williams, Carmen deLavallade, Jonathen Phelps, Fred Benjamin and Ann Marie Forsythe.
Ms Nunes is available to teach Horton Technique workshops. She learned Horton technique through Naiala Bellenger at Dean College, and continued her training at the Alvin Ailey Dance Center in NYC where she studied with Dudley Williams and Carmen DeLavallade. Her major influence and inspiration came from Ann Marie Forsythe who continues to work closely with Marjorie Perces to preserve and pass on the amazing technique of Lester Horton. (Forsythe and Perces have documented this technique in both video and written format.)
Ms Nunes writes, "I have been doing the Horton Technique for about 10 years. I enjoy the long clean, clear lines of the shapes and exercises. This technique is accessable to a beginner or no-dancer as well as a professional."
While in NYC she worked as an assistant teacher for the Ailey Summer Dance Camp program. She was a manager of the Capezio Dance Theater Shop on Broadway. She performed on 6 episodes of MTV's Global groove dance/video show.
Debbie is a member of Rhode Island Dance Alliance and the National Dance Education Organization. Debbie is also a practicing, licensed massage therapist trained in Swedish, Shiatsu and Hot Stone massage.
On May 1, 2004, Ms. Nunes and Chance To Dance teacher, Kerri Peterson, will open a dance studio in North Kingstown called Art In Motion.
